The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines opened its 3-day 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit today, Oct. 23, at the SMX Convention Center Manila. The summit, which runs until Oct. 25, is themed “Charge Ahead, Ignite the EVolution,”
PEVS 2025 showcases the latest innovations, technologies, and models from various EV brands such as BYD Cars Philippines, Kia Philippines, and GAC Dangdang.

BYD eMAX 9 DM-i Plug-in hybrid MPV launched

BYD Cars Philippines, under ACMobility, has introduced the new BYD eMAX 9 DM-i, a 7-seat plug-in hybrid (PHEV) mid-size MPV, at the 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.
The vehicle is available in two variants: The Advanced, priced at P2,678,000, and the Premium, priced at P2,998,000.
Powertrain, range, and charging
The eMAX 9 DM-i is powered by BYD’s Super DM-i hybrid technology, which pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged generator with a high-power electric motor. The combined system produces 271 PS and 315 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 kph time of 8.5 seconds.
The two variants differ in battery capacity and range:
The Advanced variant features a 20.4 kWh battery, providing a pure-electric range of 95 km and a total combined range of 945 km.
The Premium variant is equipped with a 36.6 kWh battery, offering a 170-km pure-electric range and a total combined range of up to 1,000 km.
An efficiency run certified by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) saw the Premium variant cover 1,261.2 km on one full tank and one full battery charge.
Both models support 7 kW AC charging and 73 kW DC fast charging. Using a DC charger, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in under 20 minutes. The vehicle also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing it to function as a mobile power source.
Features and specifications

Both variants are 7-seaters with captain’s chairs in the second row, a Tri-Zone Cooling System, and leather interiors.
The Premium variant offers the following: Ventilated and massage functions for the driver’s seat and captain’s chairs; hands-free side door opening and tailgate; built-in refrigerator; 15.6-inch infotainment system with a 12-speaker sound system; sunroof; Beige and brown interior; DiSus-C electronically adjustable suspension; and DiPilot advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, a 360-degree camera, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The Advanced variant, on the other hand, offers: Manually adjustable captain’s seats; 8-speaker sound system; and black interior.

All variants are equipped with 8 airbags and 18-inch alloy wheels. Available colors are Cosmos Black, Deep Sea Blue, and Aurora White.
Warranty and availability
The eMAX 9 DM-i comes with a 6-year or 150,000-km vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000-km battery warranty, and an 8-year or 160,000-km drive unit warranty.

The vehicle is now on display at the EV Summit Tech Tour (Oct. 23 to 25). From Oct. 24 to 26, it will also be displayed at the Greenbelt 5 in Makati City, and at Alabang Town Center from Nov. 7 to 9
Kia PH previews EV5 electric SUV
Kia Philippines, under ACMobility, previewed its new all-electric compact SUV, the Kia EV5.

The EV5 is scheduled for an official launch in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2026. Final pricing, variants, and full specifications will be announced at that time.
The previewed model joins Kia’s existing electric lineup, which includes the EV6 and the flagship EV9, winner of the 2024 World Car of the Year award.
Preliminary specs of the EV5 include: The motor, 217 PS; torque, at 310 Nm; battery, at 88.1 kWh with an estimated range of 550 km; and a 5-seat configuration
The key features of the EV5 include: Vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology (allows the car to power external devices); Kia DriveWise (advanced driver assistance system); and maintenance (once-a-year preventive maintenance schedule).
Kia, in partnership with its parent company ACMobility, also stated it is working to expand the local EV charging infrastructure.

The Kia EV5 is on display at the 13th PEVS until Oct. 25, where the EV6 and EV9 are also available for test drives.
GAC launches 2 new EVs, previews 3rd
GAC Philippines launched two new all-electric vehicles (BEVs), the AION V and the Hyptec HT. The company also previewed a third EV, the AION UT, which is slated for a future local launch. Alongside the new BEVs, GAC displayed its hybrid lineup, including the M8 PHEV (plug-in hybrid MPV) and the Emkoo HEV (hybrid SUV).


The AION V is a long-range BEV SUV aimed at urban families, with a range of 520 km (CLTC-rated). Charging from 30% to 80% is 16 minutes via DC fast charging. Key features of the EV is the GAC Magazine Battery 2.0 (claimed as fireproof), and a 2,775-mm long wheelbase.


The Hyptec HT, on the other hand, is GAC’s flagship luxury electric SUV, which features dual-stage electric gullwing doors, and reclining rear seats. The 14.6-inch HD infotainment display is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip). The body is of submarine-grade steel construction.
The AION UT (Preview) is a compact EV targeting younger, tech-savvy drivers. This model was shown for the first time in the Philippines and is planned for a future local market introduction.
