To all owners and drivers of the Toyota Raize subcompact SUV with production period from Dec. 1, 2021 to July 15, 2024, you are urged to schedule an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer as soon as possible to perform the necessary reprogramming of your vehicle’s engine ECU.
According to the Toyota Motor Philippines website: “Due to improper programming of the engine ECU, under certain driving conditions, such as frequent braking operation in high altitude areas, there is a possibility that the suction pressure in the brake booster could not be maintained as designed. If this occurs, this could make the brake pedal harder to press, which means the vehicle might take longer to stop.”
The announcement, titled “Special Service Campaign for Engine ECU Reprogramming on Toyota Raize Model” under the Toyota Active Campaigns, continued: “Involved customers will be notified by Toyota Motor Philippines through (an) official notification letter and will be invited by authorized Toyota dealers to perform the necessary reprogramming of the engine ECU.”
In the Philippine market, the special service campaign on the Raize model will cover a total of 28,828 vehicles.
The statement said that the remedy will be performed at no charge to vehicle owners. Customers may check if their Toyota vehicle is included in any active service campaign at TMP’s official website.
“Involved customers with vehicles included in the service campaign are highly encouraged to immediately set an appointment with any authorized Toyota dealer to perform the necessary reprogramming of the engine ECU and prevent problems from occurring. You may also schedule the repair during your periodic maintenance appointment if the vehicle is already due or approaching its regular maintenance schedule.”
Recalls are for everyone’s awareness and safety, and reinforces the manufacturer’s quality assurance to its customers; that the manufacturer is being transparent and accountable for its products and its actions. So, if you don’t actually own a Raize yourself, do inform others you know that do that their units may need to be brought in.
