‘Last Time I Saw You’, a moving tribute song for fallen medical frontliners

On August 8, 52-year-old Dr. Eulogio Losorata Jr, a medical frontliner who worked double shifts at the Our Lady of Rosary Hospital and Manabat General Hospital in Pampanga province in the Philippines, passed away.

His younger brother Yugel Losorata, bassist and songwriter of the band The PubForties, wrote a song titled “Last Time I Saw You” months before the CoViD-19 pandemic broke out in the country. The song, performed with Yugel and TessDrive.com editor-in-chief Aries B. Espinosa providing the vocals, dealt with grieving over the loss of a loved one. The haunting melody is now the soundtrack of a tribute video to the life of a passionate doctor who was an inspiration to his siblings, friends, and colleagues.

The video also shows the eulogy written by Yugel at his brother’s wake.

Last Time I Saw You

Words and melody

by Yugel Losorata

The last time I saw you

You were in tip-top shape

The laughter in your voice

Was full of life

The last time I saw you

We talked about your dreams, too

We’d find them realized

Coz love can do

You promised me the heavens

Over wine and verse of truth

Spiritually awakened

brought our bag of memories

to tell us how our youth

Had shown the way to where we are

We miss those sweet times

Though we didn’t say goodbye

I know that you won’t do

You’d rather say ‘see you later’

For there is more to take in

Yet we’re goin’ on

Have so much to look back into

The night through

The last time I saw you

You thanked the way we do

It’s been so long and still we never lose

That touch of madness

That beautified our sadness

And when we’re all alone

We penned our songs

You promised me the heavens

Over wine and verse of truth

Spiritually awakened

brought our bag of memories

to tell us how our youth

Had shown the way to where we are

We miss those sweet times

Though we didn’t say goodbye

I know that you won’t do

You’d rather say ‘see you later’

For there is more to take in

Yet we’re goin’ on

Have so much to look back into

The night through

The last time I saw you

You were in tip-top shape

The laughter in your voice

Was full of life

The last time I saw you

Last time I saw you

The last time I saw you
