Carlos’ appointment comes at a pivotal time for the commercial vehicle sector as industry stakeholders work to balance steady market demand with modernization, sustainability goals, and the continued development of domestic manufacturing capabilities.

Raquelsantos emphasized that the leadership transition presents an opportunity for deeper collaboration between TMA and PPMA, particularly in advancing policies that support Philippine-based production, job creation, and technology development.

“The truck industry relies on a strong and competitive local supply chain,” Raquelsantos said. “PPMA looks forward to working closely with president Carlos and TMA to promote greater participation of local parts manufacturers and suppliers in the commercial vehicle value chain.”

He noted that truck manufacturing extends beyond vehicle assembly, highlighting the vital role played by local parts makers, body builders, and engineering firms in sustaining thousands of skilled manufacturing jobs nationwide.

PPMA and TMA share common advocacies, including improving industry standards, supporting road safety initiatives, and encouraging investments that enhance domestic production capabilities. Both organizations have also been active partners in dialogues with government agencies to promote policies that encourage localization and industrial competitiveness.

Raquelsantos added that stronger coordination between assemblers, truck manufacturers, and parts suppliers will be essential as the industry navigates evolving environmental regulations and transport modernization programs.

“With closer collaboration between TMA and PPMA, we can build a more resilient automotive and commercial vehicle industry anchored on Filipino manufacturing excellence,” he said.

Industry leaders believe that alignment among sector associations will help ensure that growth in truck demand translates into broader economic benefits, reinforcing the role of local manufacturing as a key driver of national development.
