Motorcycle association confirms 19% spike in sales

The Philippine motorcycle industry continued its strong performance in October 2025 with 183,502 units sold nationwide, according to the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association Inc (MDPPA). The figure reflects a 19% increase from the 154,168 units sold in October 2024, underscoring sustained consumer demand across the country.

The October sales bring the industry’s year-to-date total to 1,581,817 units, up 13.5% from the 1,393,426 units recorded over the same 10-month period last year. This steady growth highlights how motorcycles remain a practical and essential mode of transport for many Filipinos, particularly as they continue to seek affordable, fuel-efficient, and traffic-resilient mobility solutions.

With this sustained momentum, MDPPA remains optimistic that the industry will close the year with over 1.79 million units sold, buoyed by continued demand and strong performance across regions.

“With just 2 months to go, we are on pace to surpass our earlier targets, and we expect full-year sales to reach more than 1.79 million units. This growth reflects how deeply motorcycles have become a part of everyday life for Filipinos. Whether for personal use or livelihood, they continue to be the most accessible and reliable way to move forward,” said MDPPA president engineer Alexander A. Cumpas.

MDPPA is the country’s most relevant association proactive to the needs of stakeholders in the country’s motorcycle industry. MDPPA members include leading motorcycle manufacturers Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and TVS. Among the many goals of MDPPA is addressing the global industry gaps in road safety, regulation compliance, environmental protection, technology, and innovation through active consultation, representation, and communication with various stakeholders.

As the number of motorcycle owners and riders increase, special emphasis is on
safe rider habits, particularly wearing the proper riding gear for long- and short-
distance rides

MDPPA actively advocates for rider safety through its Tropang Maalam (Tropang Modelo, Alerto, Aktibo, Ligtas, Aalalay, at Matalino) campaign, regularly initiating education, awareness, and training activities.
