Mitsubishi Motors Corp (MMC) hosted the world premiere of the fully redesigned, all-new Pajero (known as the Montero in select markets). Manufactured at Mitsubishi’s production hub in Thailand, the cross-country flagship will launch first in Thailand, followed by Japan and Australia within fiscal 2026, before rolling out to approximately 100 countries across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), the Middle East, and Latin America from fiscal 2027 onward.

Built on the design philosophy of “Grand Charisma,” the new Pajero combines its historic 4WD pedigree with modern executive prestige. It features an upright profile, sculpted fenders, a choice of horizontal-bar or honeycomb grilles, T-shaped LED headlights, and signature styling cues like a first-generation roll bar-inspired C-pillar and a hexagonal rear motif.
Powertrain, chassis, and off-road dynamics:
Powertrain: A newly developed 2.4-liter clean diesel engine equipped with a wide-range single variable geometry turbocharger (VGT), delivering 480 Nm of torque. It is mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission with sport mode.

Chassis and suspension: High-tensile steel ladder frame offering significantly increased torsional and bending rigidity, paired with an independent double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rigid rear axle.
Dimensions and clearances: Measures 4,920 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,910 mm tall on a 2,870 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is rated at 230 mm, featuring a 30.4-degree approach angle, 22.6-degree ramp breakover angle, 25.8-degree departure angle, and a 52:48 front-to-rear weight balance.

4WD and terrain control: Features Super Select 4WD-II (SS4-II) with four drive modes (2H, 4H, 4HLc, 4LLc) integrated with Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC), active yaw control, and active stability and traction control. Drivers can choose from seven terrain modes: Normal, eco, gravel, snow, mud, sand, and rock.
Cabin refinement, infotainment, and connected tech
The three-row, 7-seat interior incorporates Kimekomi-inspired stitching on soft-touch trims, front Zero Gravity-style posture seats, 150 mm second-row slide travel with tumble fold, acoustic glass, and tri-zone climate control.

Cabin technology is anchored by a monolithic dual 14.3-inch digital display featuring a heritage-inspired multi-meter (showing pitch, roll, compass, and altitude), wireless smartphone connectivity, a 12-speaker Dynamic Sound Yamaha Ultimate system, and remote telemetry via Mitsubishi Connect.

Advanced safety and driver assistance
Preventive safety and driver aids are completely updated:
Driver assistance: Mi-Pilot highway single-lane driver assist integrating adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.
Collision mitigation and alerts: Forward collision mitigation with pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist detection and junction assist, predictive forward collision warning, emergency assist for pedal misapplication, front cross traffic alert, and emergency lane assist.
Visibility and protection: 3D multi around monitor with an automated under-floor terrain view (activated in 4HLc/4LLc) and 8 airbags, including Mitsubishi’s first front-seat center airbag.
Mitsubishi Motors president and chief operating officer Keisuke Kishiura stated: “Under our mid- to long-term vision for the 2030s, we aim to enhance customer satisfaction and corporate value by developing distinctive products and strengthening our brand, while further reinforcing what makes Mitsubishi Motors unique. The all-new Pajero is the first model to bring this vision to life. As our flagship model, it will lead not only the Pajero series to follow, but the entire Mitsubishi Motors lineup. Evolved with a new level of refinement, the new Pajero is a premium cross-country SUV that drivers can rely on in any situation. We will introduce the model to markets around the world in phases, and we hope customers will look forward to its arrival.”
