Toyota partners with LGUs for free community shuttle

Toyota Motor Philippines has partnered with the city governments of Santa Rosa and Pasay for the Toyota Community Shuttle (TCS)—a free on-demand, shared transportation service, delivered via digital interface.

Under separate agreements, TMP is providing each city government with a fleet of five brand-new and airconditioned Toyota Lite Ace units that will run on flexible routes within city boundaries.

The TCS is now providing free rides for a year starting Dec. 1 in Santa Rosa City and Dec. 2 in Pasay City.

“TMP is offering the TCS as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and in commemoration of TMP’s 35th anniversary. Through TCS, TMP aims to contribute to improving the quality of life in these communities by providing free, easier, smarter and safer mobility,” TMP president Atsuhiro Okamoto said.

The booking service for TCS will be delivered through the myTOYOTA Shuttle PH app— one of the flagship mobility solutions of TMP’s mobility service arm Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines Inc (TMSPH).

The myTOYOTA Shuttle PH app allows an efficient on-demand shuttle management that optimizes route planning and seat booking. Through a downloadable mobile application, commuters can easily book their rides using a personal device, monitor the real-time location, and check the arrival time of the TCS unit.

“We want to create positive social value in our beneficiary communities through the provision of free mobility. But the TCS is not only helpful in creating a hassle-free ride experience for commuters. It also complements the current efforts of our project beneficiaries towards becoming a smart city and ‘sustainable eco-city’ through increased connectivity and mobility, among others,” Okamoto added.

‘Next Wave’ and ‘Travel’ cities

Santa Rosa City is identified as a “Next Wave City” and has strong initiatives to transform into a “High-level Smart City.” Pasay City, also known as the “Travel City,” is leading initiatives to transform into a “Sustainable Eco City.” Both cities are embracing innovation and digitalization to improve the quality of life in their communities in all areas, including transportation. This aligns with TMP’s vision of providing easier, smarter and safer mobility for people.

TMP celebrated its 35th year of incorporation in August 2023 with a reaffirmed commitment to economic and societal development through its automotive manufacturing and distribution business and mobility-related services.

Globally, Toyota envisions diversified and innovative solutions focusing on “Connected, Autonomous/Automated, Shared, and Electrified” or “CASE” concepts of future mobility.
