Vegan food trip in the all new Chevrolet Trailblazer Premier

The Chevrolet Trailblazer Premier takes the TessDrive crew of Aries Espinosa and Tessa Salazar on a satisfying (and musical) journey to three of Metro Manila’s vegan restaurants—Daily Veggie along Santo Domingo Street in Quezon City, Botany along Kamagong Street in Makati City, and Greenery Kitchen along E. Pascua Street, also in Makati City.

The food and the ride were so satisfying, the duo decided to rap about it. Watch their music video here:

Pioneer in a la carte plant-based cooking

Daily Veggie restaurant, along Santo Domingo Street in Quezon City (in front of Siena College), was founded in 2000 and is considered among the pioneers in a la carte vegetarian cooking, and specializes in vegetarian dishes with a Filipino-Chinese twist. Each dish prepared at Daily Veggie is freshly cooked, which maximizes its healthy goodness.

According to its Facebook page, Daily Veggie has, over the years, “evolved into a one-stop shop for vegetarians—selling frozen vegetarian meats, specialty sauces and seasoning, and other vegetarian food products alongside its a la carte meals to make sure every customer is able to bring a healthy lifestyle back into their own homes.”

The vegetarian dishes available in Daily Veggie can also be veganized upon request.

Delish and healthy alternative to processed meat

Botany by WTH is located on the ground floor of Solace Hotel at 9639 Kamagong Street in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City. The restaurant pairs up plant-based dishes with Nipa Brew’s alcoholic beverages. “WTH” actually stands for “Worth The Health”, a food innovation company that aims to help everyone eat healthier, while still enjoying their favorite flavors. WTH’s main food line is Umani, which offers delicious and healthy plant-based alternatives to the processed meat products we love, such as sausages, corned beef, sisig, tuna, crab bites, and ham.

According to its Facebook page, Botany by WTH, thus, is a “plant-based pilot kitchen serving up some plants for carnivores and herbivore fare.”

Home business expands Metro-wide

Greenery Kitchen along E. Pascua Street, also in Makati City, began in the kitchen of Edilberto and Ivy Villamor in 2000. According to its Facebook page, the couple were “mentored and inspired by dear friends,” as they set about sharing the benefits of a vegetarian diet with as many people as possible. The business started out serving its clientele in the Makati central business district consisting mostly of busy employees who preferred having their cooked meals delivered to their offices. GK, which specializes in traditional Pinoy favorites re-done using plant-based proteins, expanded its delivery services in 2007 to include offices and homes in the Metro Manila area.

Today, GK offers two options for you to enjoy your traditional Filipino dishes the vegan way—through online orders and deliveries or dine-in at its restaurant in E. Pascua.

The reason for being of these three vegan restaurants is summed up neatly by GK: “We find our efforts not only our contribution to (the) enormous effects of climate change, a campaign against animal cruelty, but also an inclusion, not only an option, to healthy living.”
