ANIMAL RIGHTS MARCH PHILIPPINES 2019 MANILA

October 26, 2019

There’s a growing global movement for the most vulnerable and defenseless beings on the planet. This movement is called the Animal Rights March, and in the Philippines, the movement began in 2018.

The Animal Rights March is an annual event founded by Surge, an animal rights organization based in the United Kingdom. The marches officially started in London in 2016 with 2,500 participants. After just two years, that number swelled to 28,000 animal activists marching in the streets of 25 key cities around the world, clamoring to end all forms of animal abuse. Participating cities have included New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Dublin, Zurich, Amsterdam, Perth, Auckland, and Johannesburg.

This march on October 26 was the second in the country. Animal rights activists march the streets with signs and placards to raise awareness on animal breeding, maltreatment, slaughter, and all forms of animal abuses. All animals—whether they dwell on land, fly, or live underwater—feel pain. They love and nurture. They mourn, they feel afraid when threatened, just like us.

This uprising is snowballing as more and more humans—young and old—realize that animal breeding, torturing and killing other beings go against every animal’s desire to live, and to live according to nature’s plan. Farms all over the world breed, populate and raise animals to use as food, clothing, product ingredients and for experiments. This has got to stop.

The Official Animal Rights March Philippines’ mission is to spread the message of animal liberation across the country. We must continue to speak out on behalf of the animals until all forms of animal oppression end.

The Animal Rights March activists urge others to have a heart for the planet’s animals—such as goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, cows, buffaloes, carabaos, dogs and even sea creatures. They patronize only the products from companies that offer meat-free products or meat substitutes, products that have not been tested on animals, and products with the “cruelty free” label, such as cruelty-free bags, shoes or clothing. They also buy and consume only vegan brands and products.
