Against the backdrop of persistent geopolitical conflict in the Middle East and ongoing volatility across international crude oil markets, the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) has opened the registration for the 14th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS).
Staged under the theme “Driving Asean Forward: Building an Integrated Electric Mobility Ecosystem,” the 3-day gathering will run from Oct. 22 to 24, 2026 (9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily) at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.
The 2026 edition arrives at an urgent inflection point for national energy security. With pump prices remaining vulnerable to overseas supply disruptions, electrified vehicles (xEVs) have emerged not merely as an environmental statement, but as an economic shield for motorists and commercial fleets. Local xEV sales have surged by more than 130% year-to-date in 2026—countering broader automotive industry softness—as the country accelerates toward the government’s target of 50% EV penetration by 2040 under the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (Crevi).
EVAP president Willy Q. Tee Ten emphasized the urgency of the moment: “This is probably the most important year yet for discussions around EVs in the Philippines. We’ve gone from convincing people that EVs work here to actually building the ecosystem around them—the vehicles, the chargers, the financing, the policy. That’s exactly what we’re bringing together on one show floor this October.”
With the Philippines actively chairing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) activities, the summit also places local electrification within a broader geopolitical and trade framework.
Tee Ten added, “We’re not building this ecosystem for the Philippines alone. The Philippines is part of a region of nearly 700 million people, and this year’s summit is about showing that Asean is ready to move together — on standards, on manufacturing, and on the policies that get more people into EVs.”
An entire e-mobility value chain
Over three days, PEVS 2026 consolidates the entire e-mobility value chain across public and enterprise displays:
o Multi-segment EV displays and test drives: Direct comparisons spanning two-wheelers, light electric commercial vehicles, e-trikes, and the latest four-wheel battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs);
o Charging infrastructure solutions: Residential wallbox systems alongside scalable commercial DC fast chargers, megawatt solutions, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) for logistics fleets;
o Financing and insurance hubs: On-site consultations with commercial banks, non-bank financiers, and insurance providers breaking down total cost of ownership (TCO) and flexible loan products;
o Policy and regulatory roadmaps: Key briefings from the Department of Energy (DOE) and regulatory bodies outlining incentives, fiscal policies, and charging standards.
