Electrified vehicle sales surge past 7,000 units this July

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association Inc (TMA) reported total sales of 37,319 units for July 2026, marking the third consecutive month of sales growth. Combined with estimates from non-affiliated automotive brands, total Philippine automotive industry sales reached 42,880 units—the highest monthly volume recorded so far this year.

Commercial vehicles (CVs) continued to drive volume, representing nearly 80% of July deliveries (29,719 units), bolstered by strong demand for light commercial vehicles (LCVs), which rose 4.3% month-on-month to 22,744 units. Passenger car sales also saw steady monthly gains, climbing 2.7% to 7,600 units.

“With this continuous growth, the industry is riding strong momentum heading into the second half. While year-to-date sales stand at 241,725 units—a 10.2% decline from 2025—July’s peak performance indicates a robust recovery trajectory,” said Campi president Jose Maria Atienza.

A significant driver of the market’s resurgence is the rapid adoption of electrified vehicles (xEVs). Total xEV sales reached 7,086 units in July, capturing nearly 19% of Campi-TMA sales and lifting year-to-date electrified deliveries to 38,286 units—a 136.4% surge compared to the same period in 2025.

o Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs): Maintained the lead in volume with 2,964 units sold in July, led by Toyota Motor Philippines.

o Battery electric vehicles (BEVs): Reached 2,520 units in July (up 1,315.7% year-on-year), with VinFast taking the lead at 813 units, followed by Geely (509 units) and Omoda/Jaecoo (428 units).

o Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs): Jumped to 1,602 units for the month, driven by Jetour (480 units) and SAIC/MG (421 units).

“The shift to electrification continues to accelerate dramatically across all categories, reflecting expanding model availability and growing consumer confidence,” Atienza added.
