Fuel efficiency of the Maxus T60 pickup revealed

TessDrive recently took out the 2.8-liter Maxus T60 4×4 automatic transmission pickup for a spin to find out how fuel-efficient it is on the highway and on a city drive.

The T60 was introduced in the Philippines on June 5, 2019, at the same time Maxus Philippines also made its debut. The Maxus brand is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Maxus Philippines, a company under AC Motors, a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation.

The Maxus brand itself has been in existence for over 126 years, having originated in Britain. Currently, Maxus vehicles are manufactured and assembled in China by SAIC Motor, one of the world’s biggest automotive manufacturers. In 2018, SAIC Motor sold over 7 million cars worldwide.

The T60 is a midsize pickup, but it’s considered the widest and longest in its category. Its powerplant features the 2.8-liter Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) diesel engine. The two drive modes (Eco and Power) harness the maximum power of 150Ps and maximum torque of 360Nm.

The fuel economy run results:

  • Highway drive along the Metro Manila Skyway, from the Quezon Avenue on-ramp in Quezon City to the end of the Coastal Highway in Zapote, Las Pinas (27.4 kms total distance, average speed 40 kph): 7.4 liters per 100 kms, or 13.51 kms per liter. Three occupants in the vehicle, and slight traffic buildups approaching two toll booths.
  • City drive, along the Las Pinas City Friendship Route, with solo occupant (12.8 kms total distance, average speed 18 kph): 7.9 liters per 100 kms, or 12.65 kms per liter.
