Green SM (operating as Green GSM in the Philippines) has officially launched its first international electric motorbike taxi service in Jakarta, Indonesia, expanding its pure-electric fleet beyond 4-wheeled cabs to dynamic 2-wheeled urban transport.
For commuters and transport observers in the Philippines, the move carries significant local implications. In Metro Manila—where motorcycle taxis like Angkas, JoyRide, and Move It have become indispensable tools for cutting through chronic gridlock—industry watchers are already asking: Could Green GSM soon deploy its electric 2-wheelers on Philippine roads?
The foundation is already falling into place. VinFast e-Motorcycle officially debuted in the Philippines last July 31, opening 21 showrooms and launching the Evo, Feliz II, and Viper electric scooters. In tandem, partner V-Green is aggressively building a nationwide battery-swapping network targeting 30,000 stations across dealerships, commercial hubs, and fuel stations. With Green GSM already operating 4-wheeled EV services locally—spanning standard cyan taxis and the newly introduced 7-seat Premium Taxi fleet—speculation is mounting that an e-motorcycle taxi pilot could be the next natural expansion for the ride-hailing platform in Metro Manila.
The Jakarta 2-wheeler deployment
In Jakarta, Green SM is deploying brand-new VinFast Evo and Feliz II electric scooters to serve daily urban commuters facing heavy traffic.
Drivers can access a rent-to-own pathway starting at IDR (Indonesian rupiah) 39,000 per day, that’s equivalent to around P138, featuring guaranteed earnings of up to IDR 160,000 daily (around P565) and full vehicle ownership after two years.
Alternative 3-, 6-, or 12-month terms require an entry deposit of only IDR 150,000, around P532, with guaranteed earnings of IDR 160,000 per day for the first two months, alongside performance incentives.
Fleet riders receive up to five free battery swaps per day via V-Green swap cabinets, dramatically cutting fuel and energy costs while eliminating charging downtime.
To celebrate the rollout, Jakarta riders receive 75% off (up to IDR 10,000 or P35) on their first ride, followed by 25% off subsequent trips through Sept. 22, 2026.
