Proven people movers showcased at LTO Motor Show

From April 16 to 19, the Land Transportation Office hosted the LTO Motor Show at its main office in East Avenue, Quezon City. This year’s edition, themed “E-volution,” featured the latest advancements on electric vehicles (EVs) and modernized public utility vehicles (PUVs), and pushed for educating the market on the latest advancements in the automotive industry, in time for the 112th founding anniversary of the office.

For the four days of the event, two brands stood out for their displays of proven PUVs. Isuzu Philippines Corp (IPC) displayed its innovative Isuzu NLR77 Class 2 PUV. The new Isuzu PUV Class 2 comes at a crucial time when the need for sustainable and efficient public transport solutions has become more pressing than ever. Based on the reliable N-Series light-duty truck platform, the new model boasts a spacious interior with side facing seats, panoramic windows, and an electronic folding type door, all designed for maximum passenger comfort and convenience.

On the other hand, Hariphil Asia Resources Inc, the official distributor of Hyundai Truck and Bus (HTB), showcased the HD50S GT Modern PUV Class 4, the first in its category to receive a certificate of compliance (COC) from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), which was awarded in July 2023. The certification not only reaffirms HTB’s dedication to sustainable and efficient public transport but also strengthens its presence in the industry, aligning with the national vision for a greener, more efficient public transport system.

The HD50S GT Modern PUV Class 4 features significant enhancements, including forward-facing seats for all passengers, a side door entry, and a Euro 4-compliant engine that promotes cleaner travel.

The Isuzu PUV Class 2 is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including GPS, an automated fare collection system (AFCS), on-board monitors, CCTV, and digital signboards—complying with the Philippine National Standards (PNS) guidelines for Class 2 type PUVs, ensuring safety and efficiency for passengers and drivers alike.

Before the Class 4 certification, HTB was granted the COC for its modern PUVs Class 1 and 2 in 2019, while gaining the COC for its modern PUV Class 3 in 2020, the first company in the industry to complete its line of government-certified modern PUVs.

Being the number one truck brand in the country, IPC also emphasized its comprehensive after-sales support available in any of its 48 nationwide outlets. This extensive network ensures that transport cooperatives can maintain their fleet efficiently, minimizing downtime and maintaining high standards of operation.

“IPC continues to be a committed partner in the PUV Modernization Program initiated in 2017. By showcasing models like the Isuzu PUV Class 2, we are demonstrating our dedication to improving public transport through innovative design and technology, aiming to deliver a safer, more comfortable commuter experience,” said IPC vice president for sales Toshihiko Kojima.
