Toyota PH named regional training hub for Asia affiliates

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp (TMP) has reinforced its standing in the continental automotive value chain after being chosen by regional headquarters Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) to serve as the official regional training hub for body, paint, and estimation (BPE) instructors across Asian distributor affiliates.

Initiated under the global manufacturing and service direction of Toyota Motor Corp (TMC), the BPE regional training program standardizes aftersales body repair competencies and quality control benchmarks across distributor markets to ensure consistent global service execution.

TMA selected TMP following an extensive regional training capability audit, citing the technical expertise and instructional leadership of TMP’s Filipino trainers, alongside the advanced collision repair tooling, paint booths, and estimation facilities at TMP’s manufacturing headquarters in Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

Hands-on training for Asian instructors

TMP conducted the inaugural leg of the program from Sept. 7 to 18, hosting body repair instructors from four Toyota Asia affiliates: Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Pakistan.

Under the mentorship of senior TMP specialists, the visiting delegates completed intensive theoretical coursework and hands-on structural collision exercises covering precise structural damage assessment, outer and inner panel reshaping, structural welding techniques, and standardized repair cost estimation aligned with Toyota’s global quality standards.

Under the multi-year partnership slated to run until 2029, TMP will conduct three specialized training modules during its initial year, steadily upskilling technical trainers from distributors across Asia.

Pinoy technical excellence in regional value chain

The regional appointment highlights the growing global profile of Philippine automotive technical talent. Earlier this year, TMP’s BPE team earned two coveted global Toyota certifications from TMA: Paint Instructor Course Step 1 and Estimation Instructor Course Step 1.

Looking ahead, TMP has established a structured development roadmap through 2027 to secure Toyota, Masters, and Professional global instructor certifications. This allows local specialists to continually refine aftersales repair techniques at domestic dealerships while elevating service standards regionally in line with Toyota’s “Best in Town” customer care philosophy.

The training hub appointment builds directly on the momentum of TMP’s factory line team, which achieved a historic 6-medal sweep at the Toyota 2026 Asia Pacific Skills Contest (Aspac) in August—further cementing Filipino craftsmanship as a benchmark in regional manufacturing and aftersales care.
