Isuzu retains Philippine truck market leadership

Isuzu Philippines Corp (IPC) sustained its long-running dominance of the Philippine commercial vehicle sector, capturing a commanding 42% market share across Categories III, IV, and V during the first 7 months of 2026, according to joint data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

IPC recorded an 8.4% month-on-month sales increase in July, climbing from 275 units in June to 298 units behind solid demand for light- and medium-duty transport solutions.

o Category III (light-duty): The Isuzu N-Series led with a 39% market share on 1,323 units sold through July—a 15% increase from June—delivering fuel efficiency and optional automated manual transmission (AMT) for urban logistics and provincial routes.

o Category IV (medium-duty): The F-Series and medium-duty N-Series captured a 45.5% segment share with 805 units sold year-to-date (YTD, up 19% from June), supporting industrial cargo and cold-chain operators.

o Category V (heavy-duty): The F-Series and S-Series dominated with a 52.4% market share on 185 units sold, meaning more than one out of every two heavy-duty trucks sold locally bore the Isuzu badge. The lineup incorporates electronic vehicle stability control (EVSC) and driver coaching telemetry.

IPC president Mikio Tsukui stated: “The growth we achieved in July, along with our sustained leadership in the commercial vehicle market, reflects the trust that businesses continue to place in Isuzu. This inspires us to continually support our customers through reliable mobility solutions and aftersales services that help them operate more efficiently and achieve their business goals.”

BYD Philippines outpaces 2025 sales with 99% growth

BYD Cars Philippines closed August 2026 with 4,682 units sold, lifting its 8-month tally to 28,399 units—a 99% year-on-year surge that eclipsed its entire full-year 2025 sales volume (26,122 units) four months ahead of schedule.

Growth was anchored by BYD’s Super DM-i plug-in hybrid technology, which recorded 22,555 units (+95% year-on-year).

The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i retains its position as the brand’s top seller with 7,759 units sold YTD (27% of total volume).

The BYD eMAX 9 DM-i added 2,512 units to the plug-in hybrid tally.

Pure electric EVs (BEVs) reached 5,844 units (+115% YoY), led by the BYD eMAX 7 with 1,975 deliveries.

The Philippine surge aligns with BYD’s global milestone of 440,293 worldwide new-energy vehicle (NEV) deliveries in August 2026 and coincides with the expansion of its local retail footprint to 81 dealerships nationwide.

BYD Cars Philippines managing director Bob Palanca noted: “The market’s response to our best-selling models, like the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, the eMAX 9 DM-i and the eMAX 7 BEV, and our achievement of crossing our full-year 2025 sales is proof that EVs have entered the mainstream in the Philippines. Filipino consumers are choosing BYD because our vehicles deliver what matters most: Innovation, practicality, reliability, and lower ownership costs without compromise.”
