‘Walas-Tech!’ TMP Tech student wins WorldSkills PH gold

A student from the Toyota Motor Philippines School of Technology (TMP Tech) clinched the gold medal at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s (Tesda) WorldSkills Philippines Clark 2026, underscoring the premier quality of automotive technical-vocational education in the country.

Twenty-year-old David Kryzjan Escobar, a trainee from TMP Tech’s Automotive Servicing General Job Batch 24, emerged as the top competitor among 298 youth participants nationwide. Representing Region IV-A (Calabarzon), Escobar bested delegates from 10 other regions across the archipelago in the rigorous automobile technology category under the transportation and logistics sector.

Guided by TMP Tech master instructor Apolinar Rampola, Escobar executed flawless diagnostic, overhaul, and precision repair modules on modern internal combustion and electrified vehicle systems. His podium finish contributed to Calabarzon’s total haul of 17 medals, propelling the region to the overall national championship.

With this national victory, Escobar officially joins the Philippine national delegation set to compete at the WorldSkills Asean Competition in 2027.

Perfect 7-gold record

Escobar’s victory completes an unblemished competition run for TMP Tech this year. Across provincial, regional, and national legs of the WorldSkills competition series, TMP Tech entered three skill categories and swept all 7 gold medals contested.

The achievement reflects TMP Tech’s specialized curriculum, which emphasizes real-world dealership competencies:

o Advanced diagnostics: Precision electronic fault-tracing for gasoline, common-rail diesel, and self-charging hybrid powertrains;

o Component overhaul: Bench testing, mechanical tolerance measurement, and structural component rebuilding to strict factory tolerances;

o Service workflow discipline: Adherence to standardized workshop safety, environmental hazardous materials protocols, and rapid flat-rate servicing.

By establishing rigorous standards at the grassroots technical level, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) continues to strengthen the domestic automotive value chain—ensuring local dealerships provide dependable aftersales support while building sustainable, high-income career tracks for technical-vocational scholars.

3,000 graduates; new Pampanga campus

Founded in 2013 in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, TMP Tech has produced approximately 3,000 graduates equipped with industry-responsive technical certifications and Japanese language fundamentals. This specialized dual-training model has served as an international springboard, with over 200 TMP Tech alumni dispatched to Japan to work within Toyota’s global aftersales and manufacturing networks.

To address the surging demand for skilled automotive technicians in Northern and Central Luzon’s industrial hubs, TMP Tech officially inaugurated its second campus in San Fernando, Pampanga in August 2026.

The expansion positions world-class technical education closer to youth in Central Luzon, broadening the pipeline of world-class Filipino technicians qualified for gainful employment across authorized dealer networks domestically and overseas.
